Vehicle history

New in 1979 to Tayside Regional Council and numbered 266 in the fleet this bus remained in service until being withdrawn in early 1997. It was the last Mark I Ailsa to be withdrawn from service by Tayside.

WTS266T was sold to a farmer in Blairgowrie, Perthshire for use as a berry bus. It remained in his ownership until August 2000 when he advertised it for sale in the local paper. The bus was then bought for preservation.

In preservation

When WTS266T was collected from the farm it had a spell back at Travel Dundee’s Dock Street Depot where it underwent a general clean-up. Some other cosmetic work was also done but the bus remains in Tayside Buses’ final livery with the light blue sections painted out, the only Mk I Ailsa to receive this scheme. The bus was taken to the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lathalmond where it remains today.
